Horseheads units responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Westinghouse and Watkins Roads. A tractor trailer coming to the intersection North on Westinghouse Road lost it's brakes as it was coming down the hill to the red light. The driver had the presence of mind to run the truck into the ditch to stop himself rather than proceeding through the intersection over an embankment and down into the swamp below. Although it may not look it in the pictures shown, the driver chose the far lesser of two evils. There were no major injuries reported as a result of this accident. | |
